Aerobti.99
Hello science people!!I am in a great dilemma and I was wondering if I could get some advice on: 1) Either taking Physics HL or Biology HL 2) Math SLwith getting into med school.I'm already 1/4 through my IB diploma, and I'm currently taking Physics HL, but after this Christmas break I'm thinking of switching to Bio Higher since Physics Higher wants Math Higher.AND MATH HIGHER IS SUICIDE So yeppers, would Math Standard be okay for medicine? Because I'm pretty sure 80% of Physics Higher is Math, and I'm really reluctant into going into Math Higher...any advice? Reply
ILM
It is better to have biology HL for medicines, along with chemistry HL. Some universities want Chemistry HL more than Biology. Math standard level as i think is good. Reply
chrypton
Most universities want Chemistry HL and some also want Biology HL, so you should be fine with Math SL. And you don't have to take Math HL in order to take Physics HL.But you should always check the entry requirements for the universities you're aiming for. kiwi.at.heart
My advice would be check with unis you are interested. I know in Australia unis want Maths SL, Chemistry and its good to have physics. Most unis you don't even need biology to get in. So do some research and basically choose what's best for you. Sandwich
It would help to know which country you're applying to. I can speak only for the UK and say that here, SL Maths is completely fine, and that there's no real move to differentiate between Biology and Physics -- they'll be rated the same, but I guarantee you'll find Biology more useful for you in the long run.It also helps that Biology for IB is an easier course than IB Physics Reply
