The greater the volume and surface area are the faster the rate of diffusion is.........is that right? Thanks! :)

Diffusion, strictly speaking, would be only the rate of particles crossing the membrane (assuming we are talking cells here). This in mind, volume would not directly affect this rate, but surface area would add more...area...for diffusion to actually occur allowing for an increased rate of diffusion. Now back to volume and why I said indirectly. Volume would greatly affect the time it takes for the particles to go from the membrane to wherever they need to go within the cell, this isn't diffusion however. But, more volume would result in more surface area, and always will as far as I know, so indirectly volume can increase the rate of diffusion but only by increasing the surface area of the cell.

And don't use "faster", it makes it sound like the particles are moving faster, which they aren't :D Try higher rate of reaction since rates are meassured in x per unit of time :)
