Hello! I have recently just joined a private school which is an ib curricular high school and since I am not really familiar with the ib stuff, I wanted to know if anyone could just tell me their honest opinion on the courses I am planning on taking and some questions I have :)

For my courses (I will be in grade 11 after this summer) I am planning on choosing these.

  • English A: Language and Literature (HL)
  • Spanish ab initio (SL)
  • Psychology (HL) (I do not have any prior knowledge in psychology but I am very interested...)
  • Biology or Computer Science (SL) or maybe (HL)
  • Mathematics applications (SL)
  • Music (HL) or (SL)

I believe I am a strong literature person and do not accel in math. I do not have any prior knowledge in psychology or computer science. As for music, I have a very basic knowledge since I played the piano and marimba for about 4 years though not really good since I stopped playing a couple year ago. If possible I want to aim about a 36 for my points so if anyone could just give me a feedback or an opinion on the choices I am making please tell me and also if possible tell me if my knowledge of music, if I should choose HL or SL or just not choose it at all and choose bio or Comp Science instead! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

If you wanna have good grades, having your 1st and 2nd language in hl is the way to go. They are the easiest. The third one should be a group 3. You can start having psychology and music at hl in class, and take for the exam whatever it feels easier for you! (Note: not always what you see in films is what is feels like to study something :))

Thank you so much!! You really helped me! As for reference if you know, do you recommend me taking biology SL or computer science SL? I little to no knowledge for both (for bio, just the normal biology you learn until middle school and for computer science, I did lean a bit when I did robotics when I was in elementary). Also, for music HL, is the class fairly easy enough for me to lean again how to play some kind of instrument or do you recommend me taking some kind of class out side of school? THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!

Food calorimetry is a real good topic to pick. But you'll have to pick food samples based on a certain routine or purpose for it to be taken more seriously - like keto diet or food tracking for diabetes patient etc. If you need something interesting in Chemistry, I'd suggest you take a look at the Lewis structure for N₂ - you could do something based on it. All the best,

Appreciate your update ;)
