Rephrasing my EE question

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

I have a research topic that I am really interested in and I have started the whole EE process early and have been doing some research for about a month now (outside of school). We have to know our specific question in like a week and I have one, I just want to see what you guys think of it.

I want to do a cost versus benefit analysis on the economic and environmental effects of nickel mining in Indonesia. Here is my question for my topic:

Are the economic benefits of nickel mining in Indonesia worth the environmental costs?

I have some questions about it that I'd love to hear your opinions on: :)

1. Is there a better way to phrase the question? Maybe to make it less of a yes or no question and more open ended.

2. Does this definitely fit into the world studies category of a combination of economics and ESS?

3. Do you have any advice about the beginning of the EE process that you'd like to share with me (and anyone else who's reading this)?

Thank you ;)

Hey!

I really like this idea, sounds super interesting to me! Regarding your questions:

1. I think it could be something like To what extent are the economic benefits of nickel mining in Indonesia worth the env. costs? - it makes the question open-ended and keeps the same idea.

2. I'm pretty sure it does, but I didn't do World Studies EE so not 100% sure. I think the requirement is that it has to be like a global issue, important to many people and places, so I don't know how about this as this is an issue (probably) that affects mostly Indonesia and not the whole world, but check it yoursefl if that's true and it's fine.

3. Reagrding this... start early haha, that's the most important one. I'd suggest also looking up some EEs in the subject at first (can be hard with World Studies EE) to see what the structure should/could be and make an outline with the headings and then just 'fill' it with the content.

Writing an EE is not that hard as it seems, especially if you're interested in the topic :)

Let me know if you have any more questions ;)
