p.k.
Hello! I am writing EE in mathematics HL and my question is" What is the legacy of Archimedes’ calculations of circular and parabolic areas in today’s methods of integration?" I just started with writing and it looks like I won`t have enough material for 3000-4000 word essay .So I tought to somehow extend my research question that relates to application of integrals in real life? Or maybe somehow connect it with physics? Is my question generally good for EE? I need your suggestions! Thanks in advance! Reply
kw0573
It's a sufficiently good topic if you can find modern uses of Riemann sums and infinitesimals. If you flip through and introductory calculus-based physics textbook, you can find many instances of using infinitesimals to solve a problem. You shouldn't include just about any application of integration if it's dissimilar to Archimedes' methods 1 Reply
