What Grade Did You Get for Your EE?

I did a history EE and got an A. I personally found it really fun to do. My topic was "The affect of Empress Theodora's early life on her women's, religious and building reforms". There was not an exorbitant amount of sources, so I could read everything ever written on her pretty much. Also, I could split the essay pretty perfectly into four sections (early life, women, religion and buildings) so it was very easy to structure. I recommend reading the EE guide EVERY SPARE SECOND! I slept with my guide next to me. It tells you everything you need to know to do well.

Wait how did you guys get predicted letter grades? My co-coordinator just told me 22/36, anyone know what that is?

Extended essay grade boundaries are the same for all extended essay subjects.

The bands are:

E: 0 - 8

D: 9 - 16

C: 17 - 24

B: 25 - 29

A: 30 - 36

So a 22 is a C. That's the average grade that IB students get on their EE's worldwide.

WAIT! How did you guys get predicted anything at all, I asked my co-ordinator and he told me that our predicted grades were just for security's sake in case our EE was lost by the IB and we didn't have an extra copy (I know, it doesn't sound very likely) and that I would just have to wait to see my final grade...

Got an A for my History EE! Pretty excited because this is the first A of my school.

Anyway, my title was something like: "Was the Afghan society the defining factor for the surrender of Soviet forces in the 1979-1989 Soviet invasion of Afganistan?"

It probably was the most interesting thing I ever wrote 4000 words on.

I did my EE in Economics. I investigated the effects of the Global Financial Crisis and contracting GDP on the Central Business District's real estate market in my city (I wanted a somewhat original topic lol). I swear I should have never chosen this topic nor economics. It was so difficult to isolate variables and collect data etc. It required well over 100 hours of effort. (I recommend an EE in Bio or something like that in which you can be objective and have clearer guidelines).

I was predicted a B/C by my teacher, because he said that it was really good and could get an A, but he was uncertain because I used statistics (ie, math) as an ultimate means of reaching a conclusion and he wasn't sure if they'd like that (of course he told me this AFTER I had sumbitted my EE.... skjdhfksjdhf).

I ended up getting an A :D So it's all good!

I got an A for my English A1 EE (34/36); How does T.S. Eliot use the motifs of abnormality and dysfunction to illustrate the loneliness and inadequacies of his characters in selected poems? (Love song of J Alfred Prufrock and Rhapsody on a Windy Night).

Loved it because I didn't have to do much secondary research :D I was fairly confident about getting an A, my supervisor predicted a high A and she showed it to a uni professor who agreed. I spent a few hours researching, then wrote it up over one week.

I handed mine in yesterday and I have a predicted A/B. We've had A's on Psych papers in the past but I'm nervous and I hope hope hope I get at least a B. I've worked my ass off during this process. I began researching before we even received the assignment. :b

A for history

I'd say it's easiest to do essays in subjects that ... you write essays in. Experimental sciences and maths, for example don't really lend themselves to essay writing, and it's much harder to fulfil the criteria - for example, coming up with an original idea. In history and English, there are infinite aspects to explore and everyone has a different take on all those aspects, whereas at school, not many people come up with original explorations of calculus. That's not to say it's impossible to do these subjects - as ably demonstrated above. It's just harder.

My predicted is a B but I'm hoping the moderator would give me an A because my supervisor was pretty strict with putting the predicted grades and even told me it could become an A. The average is a C but I would say that getting an A in TOK is much harder :P:S (writing mine right now :P)

I got an A for mine but as snobbish as this sounds I put so much work in (probably too much) I'm kinda not surprised. I investigated the impact of a Government subsidy to first home buyers on the price of housing in 3 different towns. It felt like I was writing a thesis! But I absolutely loved writing it and my supervisor was fantastic!

I got an A on my extended essay in Computer Science.

And regarding History EEs, at least in my school, the case seems to be that the supervisor has a huge influence. We used to have an excellent History teacher who would always have at least some students who got As in their extended essays. Three years ago, he supervised 7 extended essays: 6 got As, 1 got a B. He left last year, and now with my class the highest grade in a history EE was a B.

Am I allowed to ask what your EE was on, perchance?

I got predicted an A baby!! YEAH!! Bio for life <3 but tok is just .....i hope i atleast pass in that

Is it really difficult to obtain A on Maths HL???

Do you have any ideas of subjects that I can chose for my EE. The easiest one? lol

Hey I don't take math Hl but it's known to be one of the hardest subjects but it really depends on you...if you find it easy then you should go ahead...however, if you're not willing to spend a lot of time then choose some other subjects...like english (if you're good at lit.) or i find business and management to be very easy (if you're taking it that is.) Overall it depends on how you see it...and also on your teacher...they should be very supportive...i hope you make a wise decision :)
