dandoon96
Like if we have tree on paper and we want to put it on secure website so available to everyone everywhere since my family is all around the world Reply
Guest
You don't HAVE to pay for a website if you don't want to. Here is a list of some free alternatives:http://www.thefreesite.com/Free_Web_Space/Anyway, secure site? An "https" site requires you to purchase a certificate and costs about 30$ per month. I think your better off leaving it public. Also , is making a website containing a database of the family tree and images an appropriate solution to a client who wants to connect the family and identify the relations quicklyoh and yes it is. but make sure that the database itself is properly structured. dandoon96
What do you mean? What else should I include in the database? It must be relational? What should I do to fulfil criteria and make it sound more appropriate to the teacher? I think my idea is a first. Cause you know there are loads of websites tht u can use to make a tree relatively easy! I'm using a program a family member downloaded where you actually design it! Or maybe I could use dreamweaver and make my own template. and designs. Will I actually have a name of a website if I use dream weaver or frontpage? I don't remember it being available to the world Reply

Go get one on Godaddy.com Reply
dandoon96
Free of charge!? Legal? Is that what all ITGS students with webbies used? What advanced techniques can I include ? Other than edited imagesI think there's a way to make the webby have a username and password.. Ppl don't want the world to know personal details!!So,, my project is : create a website with a database of family info? It sounds stupid and easy. But it really isnti Reply
Guest
yes its legal....and no thats not what ITGs students use. THE CLIENT pays for the website. We make it for them.Secondly I don't know much about doing that whole username, password thing on websites. Maybe that could be another advanced technique.
