I have my first rough draft of my math IA due in one month, and I am having trouble understanding if my topic is too simple, difficult, or vague for a Math IA, I would appreciate some advice. NOTE; I DO NOT TAKE PHYSICS, NOR WILL I BE TAKING IT. I realise many people say I should take on a topic that involves physics if I don't take it or completely understand the concepts I am using from Physics, but I have no choice. My math teacher told me I can't change my topic, so I'm stuck with it! My idea was to maximize the success of a volleyball serve using the concepts of projectile motio

So our school just started talking about the math SL ia which will be due in February, and our teachers gave us close to zero pointers. I have no idea where to start. I initially wanted to do something related to the Gini coefficient and wealth inequality in certain countries, but I heard somewhere that statistics IAs are often marked harder by examiners. I want to do something related to art, (such as the vitruvian man, da Vinci's use of mathematics) but I don't know how that could connect to math and the SL syllabus. Architecture is also something I'm open to. It would be great if u gu

I am doing my IA on 10 pin bowling stats but I am not sure how? Does anyone have any ideas ? I'm planning on incorporating statistics, probability and Bivariate analysis.

I have already written my Economics EE on what factors have caused public transportation ridership to decline in the US in recent years . My Math IA is currently on whether population density affects the ridership of public transportation in the US. As you can see, it is not the same topic but it is very similar and I was wondering if I was allowed to use writing from my EE (my own) and incorporate it into my Math IA. Would it count as duplication? Anything helps so thank you in advance.

Hi guys! I am currently working on my Math IA and I am really struggle to find a good topic (I am in Math SL Y2) I think I will mainly focus on population curves in different countries (birth rate and death rate), whether it is more like of a quadratic, cubic or exponential curve, and I asked my teacher and he suggested to use integration and differentiation equations for this topic. However, I am not really sure in which direction can I go with this topic, like what I am proving or what conclusion I try to reach, and how do I apply the concepts or equations of integration and differentia

Hi! I'm currently thinking of a good topic for my Math Exploration, and I decided to take "The Handshake Problem" as my topic. However, I do not know exactly how to outline/start my IA. Like, i was thinking of applying the "N choose R" in it because we actually discussed that in class. But, I don't know how to make my IA even more sophisticated from then on. I was also thinking of applying this in a more practical sense, like "how many handshakes in a certain country," but isn't that too simple because i will simply just use the formula? Or, how should I explore the exponential growth (cu

Hi My math SL IA is the correlation of a country’s health care spending and its rate of tuberculosis. I feel like this doesn’t have enough math. Is there any way I could add more math to it.

Hey everyone! I'm currently in the period of time to choose my topics and making proposals for the Math IA and I'm currently choosing to try do a research on Badminton. I really love Badminton and have been playing it since i was a child so i really love it and i am very interested in it. But i need some help on ideas what i can do research in the ideas for Badminton. I hope that anyone can help me by giving a little idea or anything that can help me with my Math IA. I need help cause i'm not that great in Math. And i did found some relations between math and badminton.

My math IA is due soon and I was going to focus on weight vs. heigh of jump (grande jete) of ballet dancers. iw as going to take my data from famous dancers and analyse the videos in LoggerPro but I realised that I don't know the scale of the video and each dancer is a different distances from the camera. What should I do? Another idea I had was to look at the height vs. flexibility of a dancer and I could collect the data myself by getting dancers I know to do "sit-and-reach" tests. I would then find the minimum, maximum, median, lower and upper quartile, and IQR. Then I would create a scatte

Hello world, I am doing a math IA about using sine waves in order to predict the consonance of the joined notes. However, I haven't been able to find a program or device that will allow me to get the sine waves of notes, does anyone know any? I could really use your help. Thank youuuu

I have to choose a math IA topic and I was thinking on basing my IA on Napier's rod and connecting it to Arithmetics. The problem is I don't know what my question should be. Any help would be great, thanks!

I decided to do my exploration on climate change by comparing changes in temperature in different continents over the past few decades. I'm going to collect data of annual temperature and temperatures across 10 years or so to make exponential functions and sin functions with my GDC (line regression). The problem that I have is I don't quite get how the IA works. Is the whole idea that I set something to investigate using mathematical knowledge and concepts and come up with a conclusion of what I've found? In my case, is what I can investigate is which continenet is the most vulnerable to cli
