Good day, I have to perform an FOA and I decided to use the Malala speech to analyse. I have been confused to whether this is linked to part 1 or part 2 of the course. So which part of the course would this particular FOA idea be more relevant to link to? Is the analysis of a speech supposed to be for part 1 or part 2 of the course? With which learning outcomes and topic (possibly)?

Hello there! I'm very new to the IBDP and we're starting our first FOA presentations in about two weeks. We've been told to make a detailed outline of our FOA by tomorrow, and I'm still unsure of what topic and text I want to choose! So, I was wondering how to find texts to use for your part 1 FOA, as our book doesn't provide any good ones. Are there any good websites containing good texts? I've tried searching around for a bit, but I can't seem to find anything good... I'd appreciate if someone could point me in the right direction. - Matt

Hi, I am currently preparing for FOA. It is about persuasive advertisements in Part II. So for my FOA, I'm comparing two advertisements that were published by the same company in the same time. I am comparing the use of language in the two advertisements which are targetting different audiences, one for men and one for women. I have written half of my script and have done a brief analysis of the two ads. But I am not sure whether I am doing it in the right way. Hi guys, I have a proposal for FOA: Part 1 Language in Cultural Context due on Monday, which is in like tomorrow, and I still have no ideas and I'm still so confused. The teacher has only 'taught' us about Martin Luther King Jr's speech analysis and that's it... Like I don't understand about how we are supposed to do this.. For the FOA that we are supposed to do in part 1, I chose to analyse a speech (ich bin ein berliner). Hello guys, so I got a 5 (nearly a 6 as suggested by my teacher) in my HL English L&L for my Y1 final exam, but I am super worried cuz I need at least a solid 6 for English, since my other HLs are Economics and Chemistry which I am getting a 6 and a 5 respectively. Hey guys, so I just started the IB like 2 weeks ago. I'm taking Lit Lang and we've been told to get a primary text to class (I'm guessing it's for the FOA but I'm not entirely sure). Our topic at the moment is Language and Gender, so do you guys have any suggestions on what text/source to choose? I'm thinking Jane Eyre, but that's gonna be so tedious if we have to do quite a lot of work with the text in little time. Thanks!
