I am wondering if I'm allowed to use the same work in both English A IO and Self-taught language A (Japanese A) IO. I used Kafka on the Shore by Haruki Murakami in my English IO, and I am thinking that I will do the same for Japanese IO. Of course, the second work (work in translation), global issue and my discussions will be different from my English IO. I appreciate your swift response. Thank you.

I'm doing Literature for Language A Self taught Afrikaans, but I don't entirely understand the requirements and syllabus...can someone please explain what is required for each of the 4 parts.

Hello, I am doing Arabic A literature SL self taught and was wondering if anyone have any resources that can help me? I couldn't find past papers and marckshemes so if you have that and can help, I will appreciate it very much also if you have some guide on how to write the WA or have a an example of a WA. literally anything would help. Hi, I study self-taught Hindi A SL, even though my native language is Marathi. My school did not inform me that a Marathi A self-taught course existed, so I had no option but to take Hindi. I can understand that this may be because not many students do it. Out of curiosity, Do you or someone you know do Hindi ? - or Marathi? I'm really interested in finding out which books/poems are studied.

What are the complete list of languages that IB has written exams for? The Subject Centre on ManageBac lists more than the handbook I read, it seems (I could be wrong). I can never actually find the complete list. You could theoretically do one of these languages by yourself (outside of school with a native speaker) and then take the exam, right? Apparently, some people have done Language B self-taught. The language I’m thinking of doing may be not be offered but a similar language is so I was wondering. I don’t think it’s on Pamoja either.

Also, does anybody have the list of languages available as language As? In fact, what does self-taught Literature entail? Do you need a tutor or do you teach yourself? I probably will not do a self-taught language A but it's nice to know.

I am currently 7 months into the first year of the IB programme. I had chosen in the start of the year that I wanted to do Spanish self taught, as I speak and write it fluently. But after 7 months I havent gotten any information from my IB coordinator, and he hasnt ordered any of the books that I am supposed to read. I want to change to Spanish B SL, which would be extremely easy for me to complete, but my IB coordinator says I shouldn't. My sister is currently doing IB in New Zealand and she's taking French B but she's struggling with it so she thought she could take Arabic B instead (her first language), although her school doesn't offer it. So my questions are: 1) Can she take language B as self-taught? If yes, is there any legal IB document for this? cause I can't find one on the internet 2) Can her school disapprove of this? Hey, Currently I am half-way into my first IB year. Now, I am seriously considering if I should swap my French B HL course for Arabic A Self-taught: Literature. Why, you may ask? Apparently, the uni I am applying to requires Arabic A (within the Diploma), however, our school doesn't offer it. How difficult would a literature (SL) course be without much tutoring, keeping in mind I will get rid of French HL.. Thanks!

Hi! I'm doing self-taught Spanish A SL and I'm extremely worried about paper 2, since I'm not confident I'll be able to analyse the books having never done them in a class setting. I'm reading Cien años de soledad & La casa de los espíritus (I don't have time to read the 3rd book, but it's Maria by Jorge Isaacs) and so I was wondering if anyone else (self-taught or otherwise) is using those two works and could help me out with good quotes for memorizing or just some tips on how to write paper 2 (we did poetry in English and my prose analysis is a bit rusty to be honest)

Hi, Im taking German A Lit self-taught, and was just wondering if there is any difference at ALL from the paper grading, than the ones from class? Like I go to a school where there is a German Lit class, but it didnt fit into my time table, so I had to do it self-taught. Thanks in advance for any help!
