I am looking for a Math IA topic that can potentially involve Chemistry, to incorporate my love for the subject into my IA. My idea would be to use a simulation and look at molecular geometry optimisation, however at first glance it seems a bit far-fetched, out of my league in terms of level. Do you have any alternative recommendations or experience? Thx!

I graduated IB in 2018 and studied Math HL with discrete math as my option. I also wrote my EE in mathematics / physics and received an A. I'm currently studying programming / computer science and game design. I replied to a post a few years ago about writing Math IAs where I gave some advice and talked about my paper and a lot of people requested copies of my IA for reference. I've heard that with the covid situation and online learning a lot of people are facing some challenges with their research and are doing explorations based on previous students' work etc. With that in mind I thoug

Hey, The rq for my math ia is finding the ideal volume and surface area of lifebuoy ring. By ideal, i meant where a person won't be slipping through it and he/she is able to fit though it. I know that oi need to find the formulas for surface are and volume of a torus. for personal engagement or doing something new, i thought why not find this ideal surface area and volume of lifebuoy ring. Could anyone suggest me how to proceed from here and is this rq enough unique enough for ib not to cut down the marks?

Hi, I was planning on writing my exploration on Fourier Series and its application in music, specifically maybe showing the function of the overtones?? idk because I can't seem to find any good source that would examine this and although I see the link between these topic, I still do not see really the way it intertwines and my deadline for the first draft is in 2 days:) did anyone do their exploration on similar topic? is it doable? are Fourier Series even doable for math ia? please help me

IA (HL) Math IA - Does my topic meet the standard for HL?
SaraTamer posted a topic in Maths HL & Further
My IA topic is 'Exploring the 17 plane crystallographic groups in Alhambra Palace' I visited AlHambra Palace, that is located in Granada Spain last summer, and was really impressed by the complexity of its architectures and wall patterns. And the influence of math in art really struck me. I also really want to major in Architecture so that added to my interest, and Islamic Architecture is a big interest of mine. Alhambra palace has been said to contain all 17 crystallographic groups (wallpaper patterns): which is the classification of two-dimensional patterns, based on the symmetries in the -
Hey guys So now I have decided for my math IA i'm gonna explore Poisson Distribution. We haven't cover the topic so far (probably won't until next semester ) but i'm doing it anyways. But I have NO CLUE how to approach that my IA. I'm thinking to investigate something about genetic mutation using the distribution, or probably something relate to bio area. But don't know how? Should I use real-life example or should I make up one on my own?? Also for one problem on genetic mutation is it going to take me to 10 pages?? HOW should I do this Math HL Genius PPL? THANKS!
