  1. Hey I am from India and I am doing Extended Essay in Hindi and I am stuck up with what topic should I take and how to take a topic and how to go on with it. I have taken help from my teacher but he has just given the broader topic like language, literature and culture-society but I need a more focused topic to frame my research question. So can anyone please guide me through the topics Thank you
  2. Hello! I'm planning on doing my extended essay on English Literature but I don't have any books or question yet. I am interested in American literature in the 20th century and I'm hoping I can talk about something from then. Does anyone have any suggestions?
  3. Hello all, I am a DP2 student from New Zealand undertaking English A Literature. In second half of last year, all DP1 English students uploaded their final Work in Translation (WIT) essay to the school and received a predicted grade. From what I heard, students are to upload the final copy of their WIT to the IBIS by themselves. I have heard anecdotes of students being able to edit their WIT after the due date set by the school (it's just that teachers will no longer provide feedback). However, our IB coordinator says that our teachers will check to make sure that we upload a copy that's iden

Please comment, it would be really helpful to see what you guys would want to read in order to create a successful blog.
  5. For the Hl english Lit paper 2, we have to read 4 books and know them thoroughly and this can be quite difficult considering all the things we need to remember. So, I was thinking if everyone could lists the books they are doing the people with the same books could help each other out by exchanging quotes, analysis and other stuff regarding the books. We could really help each other out here and make studying for english a lot easier. My books: The road Oryx and Crake Jungle books Beloved

  8. So, I'm doing Lit Self Taught SL and Lit HL, would the IB accept it if I handed in the same essay in two different languages? I read the Stranger in both classes, and my Self Taught teacher doesn't know how to teach. Please, I don't want to write mor than I need....

  10. Hi everyone, I'm currently in the process of writing my EE and am doing a comparative study on two anti-war novels of WWII. My exact question is: "How and to what effect do Joseph Heller and Kurt Vonnegut use black humour to satirise free will within Catch 22 and Slaughterhouse 5?" I'm at the point of finalising most of my research but am very concerned that everything I'm looking at might be completely useless and won't actually help me write the essay when it comes down to it. So, what I am hoping is that someone on here can provide some insight on what to research and think about
  11. Hey guys, Today I got the results for my IOC (English A lang and lit SL). My teacher graded it 19/30. Is it good? What grade can I get for May 2020 Session? What can I do if I don't agree with the teacher's grade? Thank you!

  13. Hi, I'm planning to write my EE based on my English B subject. I'm actually having quite a hard time forming a solid question, but I've thought of a couple of topics. - the book "No Longer Human" by Dazai Osamu. I could talk about how the author showcases the struggle of the main character, a social outcast, trying to fit in the society, before he decided to commit suicide. -"Animal Farm/1984" by George Orwell and how it reflects the modern society/government. Since I'm living in Thailand I'd mainly focus on the Thai politics. -How mental illness was portrayed by the show "13

  15. I told my teacher that I wanted to do my EE in English, using the work of Stephen King. I asked if it was better to talk about one book or to compare two different books, and he told me a comparison would be a more interesting choice. I was reading IT but still had to find the second book and the topic to compare. I wanted to take a completely different genre of book but that would be a lot harder and I don't have much time, so I might end up choosing another one of his books like The Shining or Pet Sematary. Regarless of what book I choose, I still don't know what topic to discuss in my EE. I
  16. Ok so, I'm writing my EE in English Literature A HL, but I'm really clueless as to what book to analyse. I was thinking to do something with Kurt Vonnegut's Cat's Cradle, because I think it's a good example of a classic that hasn't been completely picked apart and turned inside out by every English student ever (like shakespeare or Emily Brontë). However, I'm finding it really hard to know where to start. If any of you are familiar with Cat's Cradle or Kurt Vonnegut's work, please send me some ideas/things to keep in mind if you have any tips. Are there any other books/authors with in a simila
  17. I have a few more days until I have to decide on my Extended essay topic. I am torn between choosing Business (HL) or English (SL), but I'm not sure if I can do my extended essay for an SL class. I most likely want to study Business or marketing in university; however, I just thought about a really interesting idea for an extended essay that only applies to my English Lang&Lit subject. I know it'll be better for me to pick Business as that is the direction I want to go towards to in the future, but I feel like I will be way more interested in writing my extended essay in English.
  18. I'm trying to write my WIT essay for higher literature, but I'm having trouble. My question is "How is Hanna portrayed as the victim in part three, chapter eight in "The Reader?"" If you have any points on how she's portrayed as a victim that'd be great!!

  20. Hey guys! So I am writing my last written task for Russian & Literature HL. And as it is task 2 I decided to make an analysis of an advert(s) and how they would change if the target audience changed. My question is: is it really allowed to analyze more that one advert-banner? Coz in the examples our teacher sent us, there is one analyzing a photo(single one), so I don't really know if this is okay to have more. I look forward to your replies^^
  21. So, my class was told that our EE's are due next year in May and our first draft is due in a few weeks. I heard History is a great subject to look into for the EE but our teacher advised us not to focus on it since our class doesn't take that subject anymore ( ☹️ ). Anyway, I plan on finishing my TOK, CAS and EE before the year so I can focus on my studies next year. Unfortunately, I still haven't come up with a satisfactory topic yet for EE. I thought of doing it on the Western influence on Japanese art but I doubt I'd find any articles or information that could potentially build a 4,000 word
  22. So the teacher gave us a past paper where we had to analyse and compare and contrast between two texts. I kind of struggle with writing that because I had no idea how to build up on the analysis. I scored pretty poorly on that and I asked the teacher for some feedback and she told me that my text wasn't organised and that it was all over the place. So I was wondering if anyone could please tell me how to structure the text for analyzing and comparing and contrasting between two texts?
