  1. Hey guys, So I have a doubt about the tools I can use. So far it is, Ansoff Matrix, Force Field Analysis, SWOT Analysis and Decision tree. My questions is, can I make a proposed marketing mix for the business and use that as a tool? I was suggested it by someone but I would like your opinion on it, just to be sure. Thanks in advance.
  2. Hello!! I am writing my psychology IA right now, but now I'm at the result section and I don't understand a thing! My teacher does not explain this well, and he doesn't seem to be certain about what he's doing. There was actually a few people last year who failed their psychology, mainly because of their IAs so I'm a bit terrified! I'm a HL student, so I will need inferential statistics but how does that actually work?? For example, my teacher said I should use the General Linear Model, but I don't know if I'm allowed to use that.. I haven't found anyone who have used it before, but
  3. My IB psych teacher just warned us not to write in first person POV on the IA, even when outlining our procedures. I was a little confused, seeing as the IAs for every other course seem to encourage the use of first person POV, and in this one I'm literally outlining my research and actions. Is it actually a no-go, or is it just my teacher's personal preference?
  4. Hello everyone, I ran out of time for my Chemistry Internal Assessment and was advised to do the IA without any kind of experimentation. I would have to search data through the internet yet I don't know how to do it as I don't have any kind of experience in making this kind of work. If you could advise me as to what kind of topics I can look at or where I can find clear guidelines I would forever be in your debt:) Thank you.
  5. I am writing my ia on which out of two options would be the best financial decision for business xy and i need to make a fishbone diagram but about finance and i have no idea how or what that even means, can someone please help me
  6. Even though there are several guides here on IBS on how to write the Evaluation in Economics Internal Assessment I thought I could add this to it! There is a very useful acronym that can be used for evaluating in Economics IAs called CLASPP. Under is the explanation of the different letters and what you should aim at doing in the evaluation and the individual points/letters. (d.) — A clasp is something that holds things together. But (spelled with 2 P’s) it’s also an acronym for the 6 types of evaluation in IB Economics. Try to do all 6 parts. Conclusions What can we conclude from the t
  7. Hi, I'm currently choosing my topic fo my IA and I'm really struggling with it. I'm aiming at 7 as the total score for Bio, so I would love to get the highest grade possible for my IA (possibly a 7). I want it to be simple and possible to do at home during lockdown. My first idea included the influence of pH on lactase, but it seems too simple to me, so I started to look for some other stuff. The topics that I was interested the most were enzymes (perhaps something more difficult and original than lactase) or something connected with yeast. My other idea was to do something connected
  8. For my IA this year, I was given the topic of exploring surface area and drag. The assessment requires me to produce a graph with a meaningful gradient. I am using the drag equation to formulate my graph (where Fd = 1/2 p u^2 Cd A) and when I plot drag force against area I get the gradient as (2 Cd/ pu^2). My question is if this gradient is useful? Surely the graph implies the the drag coefficient is a constant, but surface area is changing. Any improvements and/or changes to my possible graph would be much appreciated.
  9. Hi everybody, I have recently been assigned the task; to do my philosophy essay So far I have not thought much to talk about but I know for a fact that I want to base it off of Albert Camus's Absurdism, but at the same time debate with John-Paul Sartre's Existentialism. My philosophical question I thought of is: Should suicide be an option? or this question: Why shouldn't we commit suicide [I like this one more] I would really appreciate any; ideas which I could contribute to this IA as I am currently experiencing Writer's block. Thank you so much guys!
  10. Hi. I need some advice. My IA is about fungi so I have some data for growth over time for two conditions of one abiotic factor. The groups of the fungi in one of my two conditions (they took 2 months to grow bc of various reasons) have no growth of the fruiting body (thus no data). Thus it seems silly to use a statistical test since I know which condition was the *best ( growth was limited by lack of control of other variables) Any advice? Will this limit my chances of getting 7? I worked too much on this and now there is no data for 1 condition, just a load of qualitativ
  11. I emailed IB support but they just told me to ask my teacher/counselor. Unfortunately, he doesn't know either. Can http://sites.google.com be used to create my IA?
  12. I was reading through some past chemistry IA examples and found a research question that I thought was really interesting and quite unique. I was wondering if it would be okay for me to use the same research question and essentially the same procedure, or would that be plagiarism?
  13. Hi guys, I need some second opinions on my Biology HL IA, I'm doing an experiment on the effect of different carbon dioxide concentrations on the hormone ethylene's ability to ripen unripe pears. It's basically a spin-off of the simple "put-an-unripe-fruit-next-to-a-ripe-banana" experiment in which the ethylene hormone that is released by the ripe bananas helped accelerate the ripening of the fruit next to it, with the added twist of examining the effects of different carbon dioxide concentrations on this phenomenon. The ripeness of the pears would be measured using glucose extraction. 1
  14. Hello, I am currently self-studying three* subjects for May 2019 as I want to apply for German Universities, for which I needed subjects that my school does not offer. Before registering me with my subjects: Math HL: Option Calculus (self-studied as my school olny offered math studies), Physics HL: Option Engineering Physics (completely self-studied with support from an IB teacher from another school), English B HL (with extra work as my School only offered sl and support from my teacher), History HL, Environmental Systems and Societies SL and Spanish A: Literature SL, I sent a mai
  15. Hi! So, I have been thinking of possible Maths IA topics for quite a while and have just decided to do it on Vectors (because I'm relatively better at it?). I have heard that quite a few game developers utilise vectors during the game development process, and so it would be in my greatest interest to base my IA on vectors in video games. However, I'm not quite sure on how to go about writing this. I have a basic outline of the structure of my IA (start with 2D then advance to 3D), but I'm starting to worry that it may not be as good as a topic as I hoped it would be. Could someone te
  16. Hello guys, Simple question, but maybe not as simple answer - Can my Chemistry IA be 13 pages long of the 13th page includes only the citations? I understand that the maximum page number is 12, and I tried to reduce the IA as much as I could, but I am stuck at 13. Thanks a lot 🙂
  17. Hi, I need help with my Physics IA topic. I was deciding on conducting my investigation on Hooke's law and springs. I was thinking of investigating the effect of the length of the spring on the spring constant. Another idea I had was investigating that if a spring with a spring constant of k was cut into four equal springs, would the spring constant of each spring be 4k. I was told by my Physics teacher that this would make a good IA if I was able to explain it correctly, however, I am still unsure. Would this be a good physics IA topic, is there anyway I could expand on the experiment,
  18. Commentary: One of the world’s most important jobs has put the U.S. in great danger by increasing national debt, causing unemployment to be at its lowest, and increasing interest rates. Despite the tax cuts, Trump has increased his import and export tariff expenses causing multiple debt situations. According to this article, this debt is caused by poor decision making from the president and minor setbacks that cause major debt. Analysis: Under President Donald Trump’s administration, the United States government debt has grown faster than any other former
  19. Hey! I have just finished my draft of the Mathematics SL Exploration. I showed it to my teacher and he said that I have to put double space and separate my calculations from the text. I told that if I do that I will exceed 12 pages. Though, he contends that it is okay. Is it really so? In Maths guide there is nothing on double space and all that stuff that we have in EE. Plus it is explicitly written that exploration must fit into the range of 6-12 pages. So I am confused whether I have to do what the guide is saying or what my teacher claims to be true. Help, please!
  20. Hello, I would like to know how many times is my IB Psychology teacher allowed to give me feedback? Is the maximum number of written and oral feedback different? Can my Psychology teacher give feedback on all my IA drafts regardless of the number of drafts? I tried to find the information via google but failed to do so. Any link to some reliable source where it answers my question would be really appreciated though I would gladly accept any answers regardless of whether it's backed up with some source or not ☺️
  21. Hello, guys! I am currently working on my research project in Business & management HL. I know exactly, that I want to investigate the relationship between staff motivation and efficiency of the company. I have already gathered plenty of information about motivation and efficiency, but I still do not have any company to work on. Can you give some tips, advice on how/where I should search for possible organizations and what I should take into account when making my choice? I am looking forward to your replies^^
  22. Is finding the derivative of trigonometric/circular functions, like the sine and cosine functions, part of the Math SL syllabus? Is this the level of Math SL or is it more advanced? I'm thinking of doing this in my calculations for my IA. Would it work?
  23. Hi! I was wondering if anyone could look over my History IA question and offer any criticism or concerns that they notice. I've been kinda struggling to get this question to sound good and I'm worried that it could be too judgemental... The question is: "To what extent did Andrew Jackson fulfill his received title of the people’s president?"
  24. I'm doing history HL nd I am interested in doing my History IA about the effect of the Suez crisis on ending the British Empire. Is this a good topic? Is it overdone? Thanks in Advance
  25. Hi! So my math sl ia is due sometime soon, and I can't seem to get started with it. This is the fifth time I've changed my topic, so I've wasted quite a lot of time. I finally decided to do my math sl ia on this topic: Modelling the development of swimming performance in the Asian Games.I'm planning to focus on the gold medal winning times in the women's 50 and 100 freestyle. However, I'm not sure on what mathematical concepts and processes I'm supposed to use to model it. I've read a lot of literature on it, but I still don't quite grasp the concept of how to model it. I've tried a
