Hello everyone, I am studying self-taught Arabic A in school. I need to find an Arabic book that has similar global issues, plot and themes as the novel Burmese Days by George Orwell. My Oral exam is very soon so please I am in desperate need for help. The major theme in Orwell's book is imperialism. Any suggestions are very helpful!! Thanks!

Or you might’ve bought books from somewhere else? Anyways, do anybody know of revision books/guide that are worth spending money on? Thanks Laura

Hello everyone! In the next month or so I have to have my EE topic chosen. Yikes! I'm leaning toward an English literature EE. Unfortunately, I cannot think of a book to write about - most books I've read at school have been analyzed to death and would be scored harshly by people who knew every line (i.e. Hamlet) and most books I've read personally may or may not count as having literary merit. Anyway, I need some help with book choices. I don't care if I do an analysis on one book or a comparison of two. Here are some ideas I have: +Cat's Cradle by Kurt Vonnegut - I like the idea of this

Hi, I am trying to come up with an EE topic (I am already pretty late on this whole EE thing) and the only subject left for me to do it in is economics I came up with the idea of producing my EE around the topic of books and ebooks, mostly because an uncle of mine actually runs a book distribution company and can help me a lot in finding info. My research question right now is: "To what extent did the introduction of e-books in affect the demand and sales for paperback books in the São Paulo region of Brazil?". I live in São Paulo, Brazil, by the way... While I think this might

Hi guys! I'm currently writing my IA about the extent to which the Boxer Rebellion could be attributed to the fall of the Qing Dynasty, and I'm struggling to find secondary sources which talk about the historical implications of the Boxer Rebellion. Most books which I've come across only seem to discuss the military tactics and strategies used by the Western powers. Do you guys know of any resources which could lead me in the right direction? Thanks!

Hi everyone, Next year I am going to be taking Chemistry HL , Biology HL , Economics HL , Math Sl and Lang/Lit SL. Now I was wondering if anyone had good textbook ( textbook, study guide etc.) suggestions for these subjects that I will be taking? Since our school does not require to buy or use a specific book. Thank you:)

Hi! I took literature because I love to read and I am good at analyzing texts. I created this topic to open a space where we could share what we are reading (in class and outside of class/in our free time), what are our favorite books, favorite genres, favorite authors, book recommendation, and everything you would like to share. I took English A Lit HL and we read: Persepolis Woman at Point Zero (loved it) A Doll's House The Great Gatsby All my sons Death of a Naturalist (poems) That's it so far. In my free time (IF I CAN EVER FIND SOME FREE TIME,

Just wondering what books you would've liked to read and discuss in the IB. My list below (not exhaustive): Catch-22: Just finished this; surprisingly potent mixture of tragedy and comedy Tono-Bungay: Somewhat obscure novel by Wells, overshadowed I think by his science fiction, but is quite a good criticism of certain facets of Victorian society Infinite Jest: Probably too lengthy to actually be part of the IB syllabus, but just a great novel overall (although to nitpick a little after re-reading it about 8 times, some of the math seems a bit strange; I mean, seriously, 'pos

For my Extended Essay, I want to do a character analysis about Sansa Stark, from A Song of Ice and Fire by George R.R. Martin. There is one line in the first book that pretty much sums up why the character is intelligent and strong in her own way: “courtesy is a lady’s armor” I love the fact that Sansa is not strong in a common way. People say she is not "badass" like other characters because she can't fight with a sword. So I'd like to write my EE on how Sansa Stark learns to use her abilities to stay alive and gain friends and allies through the series, but I don't know how I co

I decided to change my extended essay topic yesterday and I wanted to know if you guys think my new topic and research question are alright. I'm doing it on language and literature. The books I picked are A Song of Ice and Fire by George R.R. Martin and I'm planning on talking about symbolism in Sansa's storyline but I'm not sure if my RQ is alright or if I have to modify it because I don't want it to sound too simple or overdone, so if you guys could give me your opinion I'd appreciate it a lot. The question is: What is the importance of symbolism in Sansa Stark's storyline in
