I'm currently taking IB Math SL as a junior at my high school and will be taking IB Math HL next year. My teacher is suggesting that I sit for the AP Calculus AB Exam in May, and she said that she will be giving me work to make up for the lack of calculus in SL Math that AP Calc AB covers. Is this something that is advisable? Calculus in Math SL comes very easily to me, but I know that it's very surface-level material. If the AB exam is advisable, does anyone know the extra calculus topics I should be focusing on to get prepared? Thanks!
I'm starting IB next year, and I am planning on going into a medicine, which is why I'll be taking Bio and Chem higher. Due to this, I feel like adding Math HL on top of it won't help me with my grades and will probably bring my GPA down so i took math standard level. I figured standard level math would be kind of... overlooked (?) by universities so I wanted to take the AP Calc ab test to show that I am at a pretty decent level in math. However, I ended 10th grade with a 5 in the highest math class, which means I am fit to go into math HL. They told me that the first semester of math standa
This year, I'll be in IB Math SL. Although I would prefer to take HL since I plan on majoring in Physics, my school doesn't offer it (nor do they offer IB Physics, so I'm taking AP Physics along with my IB courses). I plan on applying to several selective universities, none of which grant credit for SL exams; this will make it challenging to enter with enough math credit to follow the desired course sequence relevant to my major. However, they do seem to offer credit for AP Calculus AB. Although my school does offer Calculus AB (but not BC), I don't want to give up on the IB Diploma in order t
