Is it appropriate to start an EE in world study question with "what" and analyse the impacts of terrorism in a particular region? Will this kind of question be appropriate according to world studies' criteria?

I'm doing my Maths SL IA, is it okay to use chi-square test? Or is it not preferable as it is a topic of Maths Studies?
