  1. The earliest I can consult a teacher is tomorrow morning right before the exam wiith a high chance that she would not know / give incorrect info (first year IB school problems , she already stuffed me with P1 answer formats) So, just to reiterate what you are saying, NO BULLET POINTS, no matter how awkward it looks. Also assuming that bullet points for things like symptoms would also be wrong.
  2. Hey everyone! Tomowrrow is the Psychology Paper 2. I was just wondering whether using bullet points in the 22 mark questions would be a good idea. No, i am not planning to write the whole answer is bullet points, but within the essay, can some list type data be included in bullt point? For eg: A question like: "Discuss the concepts of normality and abnormality" comes and I want to include Rosenhan and Seligman (1984) and Jahoda (1958) in my answer, can I use a bullet point list to list the 7 and 6 criteria respectively? Including all seven critera in a paragraph is a bit inconvinient and may p
  3. Hi! You need to narrow down your topic. Which exact aspect of the Cuban Revolution are you interested in? Involvement of the United States? Reactionary movements by the United States? The military nitty-gritties of the conflict i.e. what enables Castro to win, etc. Choose a particular aspect and look for good sources on it. Best of Luck!
  4. While that is an interesting topic, you need to think of 3 things before you finalise your RQ: Sources, Sources and Sources. Without good sources it would be impossible for you to write your HI. Now that you have a general subject you would like to look at: America's involvement in the Iraq-Kuwait conflict, you need to look for at least two good sources, preferably primary, to support your investigation. Other than these 4-5 minor secondary sources also need to be looked for. Try to find sources that are not biased, or if biased, the who sources should preferable look at opposing views so you
  5. Hi! Firstly you need to think a bit about the Universities and Courses you're aiming for. I see you're Canadian, so I assume you are mainly looking at Canadian and US colleges. If that is the case, then the final grade you get and overall difficulty of your course are what matter the most. Having two Natural Sciences and what is generally considered a Tough subject: History (Though IMHO, History's grade boundaries make it one of the easiest subjects to get a 7 on) are all good choices for the HL level. As for English, take it at the higher level only if you feel confident you are good at what
  6. Thanks for your reply r1111! I'm sorry for my late reply, had the last couple of papers for my Mocks So from what I gather, your suggestions are to mainly concentrate significantly on vocab, tenses and verbs. Can you point me to some of the resources you have mentioned?
  7. Thank you for you reply Blackcurrant! I must say I was looking for a slightly different answer but I'll take all the help I can get! Yes, I know about french.about.com and though well organized, I often find it too spread out to be very useful. As far as I know, it has only little bits of information on each page and to study a sizable amount going through a lot of pages is almost always necessary. I personally find this quite annoying as I like my study matter condensed. http://www.laits.utexas.edu/tex/ is a much better site according to me as it has more condensed matter and TONS of excercis
  8. Hi Everyone! Okay so I have a major Issue I wanted some help with. For the past two years I haven't really put much effort into french ab. initio. The reasons don't matter anymore (though if you must know, four HLs). I somehow, with the help of a dictionary, did my WA and crawled through the IOP relatively well as well (just had problems in the last "General Questions" which I think should not affect the final marks too much ). Now, I need to get a 7 in practically all my subjects because I don't want to take any chances with the EE/TOK marks and need a 41 for my dream school. This brings me t
  9. This post has mixed up Aok with KI. The question says 2 AoK, that means 2 only and don't do more or less. However, there's nothing wrong with having 3 KIs. I hope this clears things up a bit Yes, I meant 3 KIs in the whole essay. From what you are saying you have 6! have you explicitly stated they are Kis? For eg. "My first knowledge issue is"..., "that brings me to my second knowledge issue.." or have you just stated them as normal questions? I don't have 6, I have addressed the same 3 KIs in my essay for both AoK. Well, I stated the 3 KIs in the introduction, then throughout the essay I've

  11. Awesome advice here. Let me add a little of my own , When I started the IB, I was the most average student you could find. For my grade 10 board exams I got a 82% and IB first sems were 21/45. It was not like I lacked intelligence or anything. It was just that I just wasted my time doing useless stuff, procrastinated, and generally only studied when I got really close to the exams. Then one day after my IB first sems, I just came home and started working. Nothing dramatic here. Didn't make any big schedules or plans or anything. Just came home one day, didn't switch on the TV, didn't go on to
  12. Okay guys now I'm panicking a little bit. My essay has maybe 3 KIs in the whole thing (one I have explicitly stated to be my main KI and the others I have just asked as questions). It doesn't match anything you guys seems to be saying. My coordinator has read through it and is "quite happy" with it. What am I supposed to do? Since none of you seem to be doing topic 3, would you mind going through it and giving me some feedback? We are the first IB batch in our school and nobody seems to know anything. If you guys could help me out, I could help my classmates.
  13. Going to have to disagree with you here! Two areas of knowledge means two areas of knowledge. Within those you should explore far more than just one knowledge issue per area of knowledge, you've got to thoroughly cover all the relevant ground for both areas! You want to make as many points as possible to get to the crux of the question and come up with your answer, not just a single 'issue' each. Unless I've misunderstood what you meant, but you should be sure to cover all relevant things in two areas of knowledge. Really, that's why you should be concentrating on 2 in this instance and not ge
  14. Greetings! I have a question regarding Topic 3 for May 2014 specifically and TOK essays in general. The topic is: “Knowledge is nothing more than the systematic organisation of facts.” Discuss this statement in relation to two areas of knowledge. Now the topic clearly states "two areas of knowledge" however, my TOK coordinator is suggesting that I include three. I do have good matter to write about in three areas, but should I ignore the topic and go for three? or should I just elaborate two more? Thanks!
  15. I actually have a similar issue as the OP. What you're saying does make sense, but what if you're quoting directly from a book/paper but don't actually have the book? This has happened to me because I am using a research paper's introduction as a secondary source and there are direct quotes on that from various other books and papers but no page numbers in the bibliography. Hence, I am picking up the quote from there but citing the primary source (book/paper) as IB doesn't like you to use a lot of secondary sources as far as I know. In these cases is it still essential to mention the page numb
