There has always seemed to me to be a startling lack of resources when it comes to IB Psychology. Up until now my class has been using an A-Levels textbook, which was quite inconvenient, as you can imagine - different course and all. We looked online for ages for an actual IB one, but alas, none could be found. But today, for the first time, I held in my hands a textbook which actually contained within it the IB Psychology course... and let me tell you, friends - it was a damn good feeling. B) It's an Australian one that's only just been published. I don't know if other countries have published textbooks for IB Psych, but up until now I've never been able to find one.…

I'm lost. Cognitive Perspective is simply not my favorite. Some ideas for each of them? Would be very much appreciated. If you've done one of them, sending them would also be great. 1. Choose one cognitive research study that should be considered controversial. A] Outline the method used in the chosen study B] Explain why the study is considered controversial. [8 pts] 2. Account for one limitation of a cognitive explanation of behavior [8pts] 3. A] Explain one psychological or social question from the cognitive perspective. B] compare the cognitive explanation of the question selected in part (a) with the explanation offered by one another perspective. […

I wanted to do memory because I just like it more, but my teacher said that it is best for us to do it on the social facilita…

Hey, I suppose all of you studying psychology would know what GEMS are (that is gender, ethics, methodological and sociocultural) the things that we have to use to evaluate research...does anybody know how to put them in properly? I thought I was doing it right but I keep getting low marks and notes saying they aren't in there? Thanks! Chrissy.

Well hello. I'm planning to do my IA on the same topic as Deus's because it's very interesting. However I'm having major problem finding books and websites that talk about this experiment. I'm also wondering who are the original conductors of this? I read some website and it said Asch and when i searched that up on google nothing useful came up.

Hey there... I finished my psychology internal assessment like a week ago and I was completely thrilled with it!! The hypothesis of my original experiment was something like this: Is disgust the result of an evolutive process for detecting posible disease arousing situations, objects or people? My results were really similar to the ones in the original experiment, and I thought I had done a pretty good job. However, my teacher says that all the internal assessments she has graded so far are really, really bad ! This made me wonder if my topic was good enough for psychology or if maybe I should have sticked to a more conventional topic. What do you think??

My investigation was an experiment in which all participants had to learn a main list of words and recall it. Half of the participants would learn another list of words (interfering list) before the main list while the remaining half would learn it after the main list. The aim of this experiment is to investigate which of the retroactive or proactive interference would have a greater impact on forgetting. and my research question is - Which one of the two memory interference, retroactive and proactive, has a greater effect on forgetting? However, in my intro part, I wrote 2 researches in retroactive interference and 1 research in proactive, but did not indicate whi…

okay. I take IB psychology at a higher level and simultaneously volunteering at a psychiatric hospital to increase my chances of getting into a college in the uk. But, I read in another forum that colleges will only accept a psychology degree if you take Math SL and don't care if you took psychology or not which brings me to another problem: i take math studies Does this mean that there's no chance that any university is going to accept me?

You know it's bound to appear in psychology as well Anyways, self-explainatory. Which option did you take in psychology? We are doing Psychodynamic Psychology and Social Psychology. I wanted myself to do dysfunctional, Cultural or health psychology instead of psychodynamic but our teacher wanted PD since he had done it before and in the end, everyone agreed upon it. At first, the prospect of studying Freud in depth wasn't very fun for me but now I actually realized that it is a really good perspective and that there are in fact a lot of good things that have come out of it. He's not as bad as some may think he is

Hi! Tests begin in somewhat over a day, and I've faced a problem again. I was studying the Dysfunctional psychology option and stumbled over a previous IB final question on the treatment of dysfunctional behaviours: May 07 Q7 Compare and contrast two approaches to the treatment of one specific type of dysfunctional behaviour (20). I ran across a few things about the structure of the paper that I was uncertain about while revising my paper today, so if you could help me out, I would be so grateful! 1. Hello everyone, I teach an AP/IB Psychology course in California and we are using the Myers book (8th edition). After having spoken to several other teachers, as well as attending a conference this summer, it appears that this book by David Myers is the best for an AP or IB course. Since I teach a combination of both, it has been most useful. The A-Levels textbook is amazing as well. I use many of the pages as supplemental material for my IB students. From what I hear there is another book coming out soon that is directed towards IB. Hope this helps. At the moment I'm trying to come up with some excellent resources for my IB students to use in order to find simple…

I'm obviously an IB student, (like everyone else here), and am in the middle of my internal assessment. One of the problems I am having is that my teacher is so very limited on what she is allowed to tell us is wrong that I don’t actually know what to fix. So I was wondering if there are any specific things you shouldn't, Ie: use first person, future tense, ECT... Also another part I'm having trouble with is naming variables, what is the difference between the name and the description and operational definition.
