My friend is investigating the effect of nightly hours studied on a student's GPA. We need two mathematical processes to score well in the C section, what could she do? She's already done a chi-squared test.

Hi Guys, My teacher gave me a question, I have been unable to find an answer for, hopefully you can help me out. If you have a 1 in 3 odds of winning a lottery, does that mean that if we have three tickets, we surely will win a prize. I immediately thought, the answer is yes, but it sounds too easy.

Something I just learnt and thought I'd share. Here's the game: you throw a pair of dice and whenever you get three doubles in a row, you earn a point. You will have to throw six doubles in a row to earn two consecutive points. So after throwing for a countless number of times, what is the probability of earning a point on your next throw? Hint: Stochastic matrix

Well I somewhat understand antiderivatives, but I am still stuck on my last three math problems. If you could possibly help it would be appreciated. Thanks. 1. Find antiderivatives for the following functions: (a) f(x) = x^2- e^3x (b) v(t) =3/t- e^-t © x(s) = a * cos (s/b) *They are also in attachment, thanks*

Ok so im a junior...and not very good at math so i was wondering how hard the math exam really is. I've heard horrible things and really good things...so what do you think? To those who already took it what do you think would have made it easier? Do you wish you had studied more? Prepared better? This is the only exam that i am actually dreading P.S: I know there is an IA for math but our math teachers hasnt told us anything about it...what did you do for your math IA?

Hi, I just got my mark for my Type 1 HL Math IA and the conversions told me that it was the lowest grade for a level five. I was just wondering if that was okay? Or is that supposed to a bad mark? I do not know. Can someone please tell me? Thanks.

I am currently taking maths studies as my IB maths course. As many of you probably know there is a big internal assessment that needs to be completed. In this assessment the student is required to create a project based on a guiding question. This question then gets investigated using any mathematical concepts previously learned. I have decided that I will base my internal assessment on a guiding question that involves statistics. The only problem is that I do not know what I want to investigate. Is there anyone out there who has already completed this task? Are there any suggestions? Many thanks in advance, AppleMacFan

Hi, I'm taking SL math, and we just finished both our portfolios, and I got level 5 on both of them. Out of a possible score of 40 I got 28 (29 would put me in a level 6 range). Does that make it hard for me to get a level 7 on the course? Obviously I would have to do well on the exam, but how well? Thanks in advance

Are points deducted when when your topic is overdone? If it's overdone, it's more likely the assessor will notice that you've done something wrong because they've seen it before ... My topic is on hand span and foot span and comparing to see if there is a correlation. I was afraid it was too overdone and if the examiner sees it they might deduct points because I'm pretty bad at Maths.

Hi guys, I'm in the middle of doing my math project and the deadline is getting closer. I've decided on doing my project on statistics, and the project is about predicting Population growth by using numbers from birth and death rates. My problem is that on the UN database I can only find data from 1950 and I need data from far more back in time to be able to see some kind of pattern. What do you think? Is there any other way for me to do this? Cheers!

I was just wondering if anyone had tips for finding the inverse of a 3x3 matrix. I basically know how to do it using the gauss jordon method i.e. get the identity on the LHS using row operations...but whenever i do this, I always go around in circles. Does anyone have any tips, like whether its best to try and make the numbers all equal to 1 etc.??? Or if a combination of numbers comes up I can do a certain row operation? Thanks, that would be a great help.

I only got the topic today, and I've read through it (it's about infinite surds- I'm taking Math SL btw) I understand what they want- like I understand what calculations I need to do and everything, I just have absolutely no idea on how to present it! It's all about getting the marks to get a level 7 right? So my problem (and main concern ) is I don't know what to put in it... my teacher is amazing and she didn't tell me **** about the portfolios and what the examiners are looking for :// so if anyone has any advice on how they struct…

Hi! I saw some topics on math studies, and thought I should start a general topic in mathematical studies... I want to know who has taken math st and what they're planning on studying later on at uni? I would like to know exactly which careers crave Math SL and HL.. I live in sweden and math ST works fine to work in law, economy and most socially related subjects! On the other hand Math SL and HL are required to become a doctor, and engineer and financial advisor... basically! What are your thoughts on the subject? How far do you think math studies will take IB students? I myself am changing from SL to ST.. I figured that I rather get a 6 or 7 in ST then basically fai…

Hey, im one of the few students writing november standard level math exam, and i have my paper 2 tommorow. I was wondering, to what extent are we allowed to use our GDC? So for example, when you're finding the area between two functions, can we just use GDC to find the point of interception and thus find the area? or do we have to show this by hand and use GDC to check our answers? because i just read a past exam marking scheme, and it didnt specify on usage of GDC, or whether or not you can use it

So, I took a math test last week. I am getting my results back on Monday... Regardless, I already know my grade due to my school's managment system I scored a 17%. Yeah, its not a typo, or a mistake. I scored a 17%. I flunked and I knew I was going to flunk while I took the "Quiz" (which he later on revelead to us was a Test). I can proudly say I did not study at all, this is my third week in IB SL Math and my teacher just sucks, everyone is complaining about him constantly and well, my class was going to uproar against the teacher and impose him to drop our low grades (ranging from 17 - 69). Until I recently found out that someone in my class got a 91% My hopes are ruin…

I am trying to draw a regular pentagon in Autograph. I have read&tried the methods described in Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pentagon) and all of them are really confusing. the easiest one to do in Autograph for me is the Richmond's method. but, I dont know how to set the length of the sides! I have successfully drawn a pentagon with side length 5.88 units because the circle's radius was 5 units. now I want my side length to be an integer. what should I put for the radius of the circle? I will construct 4 pentagons with side lengths of 3, 4, 5 and 6 units. and afterwards I will need to find their areas too. or is there any other method which can give me a p…

Chinese B1 Maths Studies SL I really want to get into UC Berkeley but I'm afraid that they won't accept me simply because I don't take Maths Standard...
