Hello! I'm currently doing my IB year 1 and it's time for us to decide universities. I want to do Marketing and management in the UK, and I take math studies. As far as I checked pretty much all the universities I want to apply to say math SL/math studies, but some of my friends keep saying that eventually universities would place an offer for a person with Math SL instead of a person with math studies. So my question is, do universities prefer math SL candidates over math studies even thought they accept math studies?

Hey, I've been considering doing the BMAT exam but I am doing November exams so this means that my exams will clash with the BMAT (either on the day I have econ paper 3 and lang lit paper 1 or on the day that I have lang lit paper 2). I was wondering if anyone has gone through this and how I could solve this problem of either having to do the BMAT at night on the day I have 2 exams/in the afternoon on the day I have 1 exam. The reason I don't know which day is because it says November 2nd in the UK so that will be November 3rd in Aus or whether it will be on November 2nd in Australia. THANKS!

Hi! In the fall I will be applying to universities (UK) I will probably be predicted 41-42 points with 776 (7 in maths and physics) in my HLs and these are the universities I want to apply to: Oxford Imperial UCL Edinburgh Glasgow I want to study something with maths / physics / computer science. I know that all of these universities are incredibly difficult to get into and I was wondering whether you guys think that I ought to applying to some universities with lower requirements just in case? Do you think it's too risky? I really don't know, especially as I'm theoretically above the min entry req…

Currently, I am having a lot of trouble, even in Math SL. Understanding the questions is not the problem. When I work on complicated, long workings (even in SL), I tend to do dumb, careless mistakes (e.g. forgot to put negative, accidentally subtract when I have to add), until the point that I get 3 or 4 (and even 2), when I was sure I was going to get a 6. But, in the sciences, I feel like I am doing it well. Currently, both Physics and Chemistry are HL, but I feel like dropping Chemistry to SL because it is putting too much load as something I don't need. They tend to be my highest scoring subjects (excluding Business Management HL), due to my interest in them…

Hey guys, What university do you think I should go for? I have applied to English Literature and Creative Writing in the following institutions: University of Kent and Lancaster (in which I got from both an unconditional offer and could try to easily go for a 2.000 pounds a year scholarship), Warwick (conditional and requests 38 p), Surrey (34 p) and finally Edinburgh which hasn't replied yet. Honestly, I am more inclined to either Kent or Lancaster. My main criterion isn't the prestige, it has never been, otherwise I could have applied to institutions considered to be more prestigious such as UCL or St. Andrews, but I prefer a cozy and passionate environme…

So, this year is my first year of IB, and i'm taking Maths SL and Physics HL. I've always wanted to study Physics and Mathematics in the UK, and i've started looking into universities in the UK. I'm really interested in attending Strathclyde Uni, but i'm not sure if it's a good uni? They ask for a very low mark (32), and I'm not sure if that's good or bad... If anyone knows anything about this uni, or knows another uni with a good programme, I'd be very thankful!

Hi I'm in my final year of IB and am about to send out my applications to universities to study law. I have good predicted grades (43/45) and am planning to apply to King's College, Queen Mary, SOAS, Birkbeck and New College of the Humanities. We had a barrister come to our school recently and talk to us about the difficulties in gaining access to the profession and how there is a lot of stiff competition. He said that grades mattered most, but there would always be some places that looked down on you if you didn't go to Oxbridge. I want to become a solicitor and work at a law firm after completing my law degree, to the best of your knowledge, would a degr…

Hi guys, So I've been considering to get the MBBS degree for a few months now, but I'm having more and more questions about it every day. I am really interested in Biology and thought medicine is the best way for me to use this interest and help people likewise by becoming a doctor. However, recently in our Bio class we did a respirometer experiment using maggots/some kind of worm.... And I must say I was not into touching them because of their wriggling. This made me think how would I react when in med school we were given dissections to carry out etc. Does anyone know what kinds of activities and practicals are usually carried out in med school?…

Hello, I was just wondering what to do in my situation right now, because KCL has been requesting for my predicted marks since November and they put me on hold thinking they would receive them by the end of November. However, it is already the new year and my coordinator seems to constantly forget providing me with the predicted marks I need for admission as well as scholarship. Also, does anyone happen to know when I should be expecting a response from UCL? Thank you.

My school is terribly mismanaged IB-wise. So mismanaged, I have never even heard our teachers say "predicted grades" ever. Like, to the extent that I'm wondering if they even know what they are... And we just had our last mocks this week, but I've got a feeling a few teachers won't have them corrected before the holidays, as we have only a week left until then. So, I don't think I'll be able to complete my applications during the break, especially since I did terrible in two classes, which might lower my overall marks so much that I would be better off applying to my insurance places as first choice and adding something even lower as an extra insurance... The problem…

Hey, I'm a French citizen who lives in the United States and is applying to UK colleges. I was looking at requirements for EU colleges and I started realizing that their IB requirements seem exceedingly high. For example, UCL, EPFL, Imperial college (which are all high-end, I will admit) require a 39 Predicted Grade total. I don't know about folks in Europe but here that means 6 on almost every single exam. There's no way any teacher would give anyone a predicted grade around or above 6 at my school, especially for science courses. I have a 4.3 GPA and I'm in the top 10 percent of my school with an 800 on the SAT Math, so how comes these scores are so unbelieva…

Hi! I was wondering does anyone have any experience or reviews about Birkbeck university in London? Because I really want to try out the undergraduate course BA honours for Film and Media, full-time, but I'm not sure whether it's really that good... I read many positive reviews about business and english related courses, but nothing about film. So if you know anything let me know!

Hi guys, I was wondering about one thing: The deadline for applying to medicine in UK (which is btw what I want to do, yep, another one ) is in October, right? Okay, so, basically this means that we have one year (the whole IB1) + a little tiny bit of IB2 to work through and to get our predicted grades that we apply with. In my school the school year is divided up into 2 semesters (first semester is from the start until the middle of January, and the second semester is from the middle of January until the middle of June), and we get our grades (not predicted grades, they are just an indication of the level we currently are at) at the end of each semester. Is there then a…

Lit and American Lit. and Creative Writing with a Year Abroad). Thanks guys, Richard

Hi everyone! Was wondering about what the range of points between my choices should be. I am planing to apply for electronic engineering. For example, if i am predicted 38 points, and 6's in my maths and physics HL courses, how many school should i apply to with exactly that requirement? With 5 choices, its very hard to decide on the safe and 'not so safe' choices. What are your opinions on the range of universities you are applying to? Or do universities really look that you go above their minimum requirements? Thanks in advance.

I want to apply for Neuroscience MSci in the UK. I'd like to apply for UCL and Leeds for sure (I don't know what I'm predicted yet - 38-39 probably), but I am not sure about the rest of my list... Hey guys, My situation is the following. I did not get my diploma in May because I did not reach the 12 required points in the HL subjects. I am retaking a few exams now in November in order to get my diploma and enter University afterwards. The thing is I would like to start University in January instead of having to lose an entire year but it seems that it is quite difficult to apply for January. I have heard that people have been able to start in January but I do not know how. If somebody knows how, please help. Thanks.

Hey, I've just read here that the requirements for Law at Edinburgh are "34 points overall and grades 655 in HL subjects including English" which is pretty easy to score. Simultaneously I've read that the typical offer is 43 points (grades 776 at HL) which is extremely hard to get. Isn't it more than the required points for the LSE, KCL and Oxford? How should I understand it? Is it that the official requirements are usually lowered and the typical offer is about 45 points or, that Edinburgh put some unrealistic grades as the typical offer? I find it highly unlikely that it is harder to get into the University od Edinburgh than to the prestigious english universities...

Im hoping to reapply to med school in UK in 2017. I finished my IB course in 2016. I had a predicted 41/45 but due to medical conditions such as a surgery which cost me 2 months of classes and a few unfortunate circumstances I wasn't able to perform to my best and only secured a 35/45. I had A in my Psychology EE and a B in TOK. I somehow (no clue how- kind of blanked out on the day of the chem exam as i missed a lot of classes) only got a 4/7 in chem and I got a 5 in Bio missing a 6 by 1 point. I had an offer which i missed and so will have to reapply this year. I am resitting Bio and Chem HL in November and hoping to get a 7/7 in both as I was predicted earlier but sinc…

Hey, I'm considering studying law in UK and doing specialisation in animal law later on. And here comes the question: does it matter if I go to a uni that offers animal law as a module course? I've read somewhere that it might be helpful or sth, but the thing is there are not that many schools, which offer it (John Moores, Kingston, Northumbria, Aberdeen, East Anglia, Leeds, Essex, Lincoln), and the ones that do are not the top ones, and the number of points they require (ranging from 27 to 34) is also quite low. What do you think? Thanks for help in advance1

Hi everyone. I am beginning my final year of the IB and I stared looking at unis. I really want to study in Edinburgh and I'm planning to apply for courses that are some combination of History and English. I am a predicted HL 7 in both subjects, however the rest of my grades are not the best. So, I have a feeling I won't make it into the university of Edinburgh, especially considering that their English and History courses seem to be the most popular courses they have... Looking for alternatives, I found a few mostly English-focused courses at Edinburgh Napier. Does anyone have some first hand experience with them? Are they any good? Will my degree have less worth i…

Hello! So this is my first year IB i already know what i want to study but i am so confused with all the terminology such as LLM, J.D, BA, BSc, and GDL. I am also confused if International Law is an actual course or do you just get to travel and practice law in any given country? Also do u first enter an general law course or do you go directly do ur desired section like for example corporate law. And if I am a foreign student do I need to show evidence that i am fluent in english by taking an exam or does the IB count? Lastly does anyone know an online IB biology tutor that I can access thanks!

Hey Guys, I am planning on studying Law in London. I have received my conditional and unconditional offers via UCAS meaning that I will head off to London in September of this year to start University (please note that I did not apply for an International Law course). However recent articles about Britain leaving the EU have been concerning me for the past weeks. I am aware that we still have to wait until the 23th of June until there is any kind of certainty about what will actually happen however it never harms to think about the potential outcomes already. My second option after London would be to study Law in Switzerland. I am now wondering what your thought…

Hey I'm deciding where to apply to uni for 2017 term. A year ago I was really hoping to achieve good grades so that I could apply to Oxford University for their Engineering course; however, now that I finished the IB I'm second guessing my self. I got 43 points with 776 at my HLs BUT I got a 6 from Math HL. I just couldn't manage the work load at the end and there were huge issues with teaching at my school throughout the two years of IB (only one person has managed to get a 7 in my school and that was three years ago LOL) On Oxford's website they say that they require 7s from both mathematics and physics higher level. So, does that mean I don't have any chance? …

Hello there fellows, I am currently in the beginning of my 2nd year and I was planning to go study in the UK, though I am in a dilemma as to what what degree I should take. On the one hand, Law would be great, on the other hand I would also like to take something related to Literature or Arts, since I want to become a writer. However, english is not my native language, so being a writer in the UK or taking a degree in Literature would be harder for me than for other fellow british students. Hi there, I am doing an UCAS application and I see that there's no place for predicted grades as if you are an IB student and have exams in May 2017 you just have to write "pending" in the space for the grade. My question is then: where my predicted grades will be? In the references? Thanks for the quick answer!:)

I read in a list of documents for the UK Visa that 'original certificates' must be submitted during our Visa appointment. Does this refer to our diploma hard copies? If so, as we won't be receiving our hard copies until sometime in August (My school couldn't give me a specific date), does this mean we can't have our Visa appointment before we receive our diplomas? If my course begins on the 1st of October, will I be left with sufficient time to make my Visa?

Hey , so I am starting the IB this September and I want to get into a university in the UK. And I wonder, whether they look at the grades you had before IB? Last school year I had quite serious health issues which resulted into more than 70% absence at school and very bad grades - including Cs and Ds. This school year my grades are quite average, depending on the effort I put in now they can result into either As and a few Bs (even straight As if I rewrite a few exams) or a mixture of As, Bs and Cs. I can prove the health issues from last year, but I have no excuse for this years grades. Do you think its worth the effort or should I just let it…
