So for my CAS project, my friend and I are creating a Pen Pal program with our Diploma and Middle Years Program (we are mainly focusing on DP). We originally had a school in Italy lined up to work with us, but they ended up flaking last minute. If anyone is interested in being a Pen Pal, or if you know kids at your school who may be interested please respond. The only requirement is that your school is outside of the US and Canada. Thanks a bunch

Hi everyone! I’m starting IBY1 next year and I’ve started thinking of some CAS ideas. Does anyone know if playing an instrument (as a self-taught, I’m not going to attend any extra classes) can count for CAS? Thank you for the answers :)

Hey guys, I am starting IB next year and as a typical student I am thinking what to do for my CAS. I really love reading and I was wondering if I could start writing a book blog. I don't really understand CAS yet, so I don't know if it could work. How could I cover the activity part?

Hi! I am an eleventh grader and just wanted to ask about what all should I include in my CAS reflection for an activity like learning how to play the electric guitar. I am very confused and any guidance would be very helpful! Thanks :)

Hello, I am about to begin my IB next week and I Just wanted to know. I make art youtube videos, which means my face is not in the video. I know that Youtube videos counts as cas and I make the art videos, to teach people how I do my arts. But will it count as cas even though gave around 5 views only? And will they accept it even though I don't put my face in it? The type of video my make:

I am on my vacation right now and planning my CAS project with my friend, but not really sure which one I should do. One of the ideas that I came up with is organizing a group of people to pick up trash and clean the streets, or maybe other places such as parks and beaches. We will be doing this for about a month and there will be 5-6 people who would join this project. Would this be appropriate for my CAS project?? If not, I want you guys to give me some good ideas.

I am on vacation during the summer in Europe and I haven't come up with a CAS project yet. (I'm not sure if we are supposed to have one but I think it would be good to do it anyway). Is doing a travel vlog with my family considered a "Creative" CAS project? I'm not sure it would be approved.

Hi, I saw somewhere that someone had done cycling for CAS. However, an important question I had is how do you get a supervisor to verify you are doing activities when you are riding a bike locally and alone? I see a lot of activity examples in which people go out and do mountain biking or workout, and I wonder how exactly they get a supervisor for this when they do this by themselves? And as far as I know, parents cannot be supervisors.

Hi everyone! I have been focusing a lot on my CAS experiences to try to get them out of the way from the second year apart for two/three that I normally do. I have done tons of creativity, service and activity. According to Mange Bac, I have 100% of my CAS done and I have not uploaded some of my reflections on the site yet. The experiences I plan to keep are only Service and Activity, there would be no creativity. I did a service trip with my school and there we did so much stuff about creativity I think it would be more than enough. So I was wondering if I had to keep doing creativity until the second year, or if I can do only Activity and Service as m…

I was hoping to start a blog in order to add up to my creativity section of CAS but I'm not sure if I can do it since it will not have any supervisor. Can I make my CAS coordinator sign it or do i even need a supervisor for such CAS? Thanks for the help!

I've been dwelling on this question for a while. Why does CAS exist, like what does it actually do for us. They say it was implemented in order for IB students to maintain a balanced lifestyle and I respect the motive, but this has not been the case for me or anyone I know that has taken IB. The fact that we have to reflect, meet deadlines and provide evidence for every single activity only adds on to the stress already provided from our normal school life. CAS merely stresses one out more, rather than alleviate the constant stress and pressure of school. The principles of CAS would be far more effective if they were not a necessity in passing IB, but rather a 'highl…

So I'm taking my driver's license this year and my CAS coordinator said that if I take lessons at a driving school I can get CAS for it (creativity). There are several driving schools where I live, but the one I'm looking at is eco-friendly and the cars don't harm the environment while driving them. If I choose this school could that count as 'global engagement' as a learning outcome since I'm being aware of the climate change and its effects on earth and trying to do something to not worsen the situation?

I'm currently doing several CAS experiences but I'm looking for something that will meet the "global engagement" learning outcome. Is there anything you can do that count as creativity and "global engagement"? For example, writing a research paper on a global issue? Is that acceptable, would it count for CAS and meet this learning outcome?

So I began my IB career in August 2018, and will do my exams in May 2020. I've honestly completely procrastinated the CAS thinking I could do numerous hours recorded (5 hours per C A S) a week. Seemingly, this is not the case. So I wonder: From today until May 2020, how many hours can I complete for CAS? I'm fine working over holidays too etc!

Hello, I along with a friend of mine is currently thinking on what to do for our CAS project, but we are currently stumped so far. So I've decided to create this so that people can put ideas for something that can be done with 2 people. I would really appreciate it if any of you can contribute to what we could do for our CAS project.

My school requires CAS projects to at least have two of the CAS qualities (ex: creative and service, action and service, etc) for your CAS project, and I'm not sure how flexible the "action" category is. I was planning to do creative writing or some type of journaling as my project, but to me, that seems like it only qualifies as creative. Does typing or writing with your hand count as an "action?" My CAS coordinator at school only mentioned action examples as like running a marathon, and that seems way more strenuous than writing.

Hello, I just need a little help with my CAS project. I am very unsure what I want to do for my final project and one downfall is I will be working alone. Any good ideas or tips on how to start or what to do because I really want to find a project I enjoy, but I do not know where to start. One small idea I had was to possibly organize an event with various martial arts schools coming to introduce their martial art and expose others to that style. I think it is a bit much and want to start smaller, but it was an idea. Overall, I just want a small, yet effective final CAS project and need help on where to start. I have looked online, but many projects require the help …

When I look at my ManageBac I feel like I've nearly fulfilled all CAS requirements, but I kinda want to double-check. I want to learn a new language for CAS but I don’t know how I would get someone to supervise that. Would Duolingo count since I can look at how much time I spent by looking at the one log of the browser or the screen time on my phone? I was thinking about learning French or Japanese. My school's CAS coordinator met with all the juniors after school this past week. He said that if we were doing a CAS activity outside of school, we had to get a letterhead paper from the activity's supervisor (Ex: doing Creativity hours by going to a piano lesson where I am being supervised by my piano teacher) describing what you did. He never specified that you needed a reflection for it. However, I've heard that you have to do a reflection on the activity, get it signed by your advisor, and you're all set. This has left me really confused. If anyone knows what to do, please tell me!

I start IB in a few months and I was just wondering, what's to stop somebody from just beginning to do CAS activities a year or so before actually starting DP and taking photos but then waiting until they had actually started DP to log the activities into managebacc? Couldn't you just lie to your coordinator cause it's not like they are going to go through all the effort to check when the photos were actually taken. Also, couldn't you just do an individual activity such as running but get all of your evidence done in half an hour by changing outfits and taking videos of yourself running or something, and then using that evidence to log cas hours later on during your diplo…

For my project I am planning on coding an html website discussing, giving information on, and raise awareness of mental, social, and physical issues people face in their life. With this I'll allow people to give their stories on some of these thing (body image, working out, stress etc.), and some of the stories can be sent by audio and make a transcript of it for the person's convenience ... and to stretch out my required time. I'll also link to suicide and domestic abuse hotlines and information. Will this be enough to qualify for a CAS project and what strands would it go under?

Hi I was planning to do a runathon myself where I ask people to give me money for each lap/km that I do. I am not very good at running so the planning part is where I improve my own running skills. The fund gathered will then be gathered to a charity that I haven't decided upon yet. There is also an app that I've found online which makes them donate money to a charity of my choice for the distance that I've ran. I want to ask if this sounds like an acceptable CAS project, if not how can I make it one or what are some other suggestions.

So, I’m case there’s any metalheads here, I decided to share this with the community: It is a music album I made taking the instrumental part of famous metal songs and singing over them, though the main creativity part lies on the invented IB-themed lyrics. Mostly made it for fun, as I’m a terrible singer and my CAS profile was already pretty complete, but hell, it is metal and it is about the IB, there’s nothing better to focus on studying the finals! Share it with your classmates if you want to cause a good deal of laughing, some of the songs I made are really terrible (Studying till Starvation or Time to Change) while others are actually lis…

Hello! This is my first post on the forum. Basically, my friend and I organized a TEDx Conference at our school, and spent roughly 3 months organizing it, from getting speakers, setting stages and getting materials. Anyways, when we went to our CAS Supervisor he only gave us 18 hours for the event - 8 Creativity and 10 Service - for the event, saying that we made the posters and promotional material in about 2 days so 8 hours of creativity for that, and we spent about 10 hours of running around, 8 on the event day, and 2 before that so 10 hours of activity total and 0 service hours. Is he correct? It was 3 months of organization! and doesnt the CAS Guide count …
