3. Before asking anything about format or requirements for the extended essay, we suggest you read the IB Extended Essay Guide first (which you can download from here).
4. Make your thread titles descriptive. At the minimum, mention the subject area and if you have one, the topic! For instance "History EE on Nazi Propaganda" is better than "EE help please". The people who know about history and nazi propaganda will click on the first thread and probably miss the second one. Help us to help you - give it an accurate title!

Hello, So recently I've been working on my EE and I've noticed that my research question might be a bit too constraining, yet I have no idea what amount of depth will suffice. Plus, my draft is due September 6th so I would like to get everything sorted by then. My current RQ (translated) is: "How does the representation of hope change from x to y through the use of rhetoric in Angela Merkel's speeches about the corona pandemic?" I'm thinking about removing the part about rhetoric so that my research question just focuses on how the representation of hope has changed in angela merkels' speeches from x to y date. Hey guys, I've decided to write my English EE on various Eminem songs. My rq is not fully done but it should be along the lines of: "How does Eminem use stylistic devices to effectively portray the diminishing effects of violence in his songs?" Neurobiology is really the thing that interests me the most and I really want to do an EE in that, but I find it difficult, as to how you could conduct an experiment, and I read that non-experimental EEs are harder to do. Has anyone done it before?

Hi, I have come up with an RS "How does the acquisition of Whole Foods by Amazon impact its global market share in the e-commerce industry?", where it's mostly focused on researching on Amazon, especially its global market share. Hi IBSurvival Forum! As I am approaching my analysis portion of my research-based extended essay, I would be delighted to get some feeback on analysis I have planned and subsequent conclusion. Before I go into the main point of this post, my stubborn foolishness led me to stick to a Bio EE, and I would just like to say it is immensely difficult to write a biology extended essay that meets the IB requirement to a high standard. Hi all! Due to COVID, we are unable to conduct any experiments or collect any primary data at school. If we want to complete a biology EE, we must do a databased or secondary research based paper. From what I've seen online, everybody seems to strongly advise against writing literature based science EEs as they typically score lower. Does anyone have any first-hand experience in writing a literature based bio EE and/or any advice? I couldn't find any exemplars of this type that scored too well. Bio is something that I'm super interested in but since it is early on, I can still switch to another subject area. Thanks

Hi =) I'm about to start on my biology EE and I've been researching a suitable question/topic to do it on. So I was thinking of doing my extended essay in ESS and maybe do an experiment which somehow has to do with agriculture. What I have in mind is maybe getting an agricultural plant and making it grow while using different amounts of pesticides and maybe use three different pesticide and go from there. I recently responded to a post which made me think about my EE. My EE is a very complicated topic that I find quite interesting. The experiment, on the other hand is quite simple. I will only be collecting one data which is Time. I will calculate other simple things like molar mass, moles, etc. But I don't really have any harcore chemistry in here. Alright, so for my chemistry EE I'm hoping to do something relating to lithium/alkaline batteries. So far the research question is structured along the lines of; "To what extent does Temperature affect the shelf life of lithium/alkaline batteries?" We have enough room that I can run both experiments simultaneously, in case one of them goes wrong, but I'd prefer to focus on the lithium batteries. The issue however, is that I'm not sure this could pass as chemistry, since I have yet to do the electrochem unit, which is one of the first we do next year. Would this topic be acceptable to as a chemistry topic or does it encroach on physics territory/it's too basic?
