Do you think this topic will work? This is my History HL IA for the new syllabus. To what extent does the interpretation of Japanese constitution article 9 affected the revision of the US-Japan Security Treaty in 1960? If this doesnt work, do you have any suggested topic in this field?

Hi IBers, I am trying to revise for the subjects as the mocks are near. For the History, I don't really know how should I study wisely. It is all messed up in my mind. Can you please give me some suggestions about revision tactics and being more effective and productive? I have past papers, but I do not know how to study more efficiently. I take Route 2, Peacemaking, peacekeeping—international relations 1918–36; and the chosen topics are Causes, practices and effects of wars & The Cold War. As an option, I take Aspects of the history of Europe and the Middle East. If anyone studies the same/similar topics, I will be very happy if we can make some kind…

How successfully did Hitler promote the ideal of the family in the Third Reich? Just wondering, I just finished my HI and I am already having regards about doing this topic. I know you are going to tell me "it depends on the essay". But I basically wrote about the ideal family image and values during the Nazi Regime did I just write a 2000 word essay on the wrong topic? And I am not sure how to talk about anything else, especially the success part since there is was basically no opposition to his "ideal" German family so you can't argue he was unsuccessful.

Hi! This is for the new 2017 syllabus IA (just a heads-up, though I'm pretty sure it doesn't change the RQ format). I've already done part 1/3 of the IA (the source identification and evaluation part), so while I'd appreciate phrasing and diction help, I'm sticking with this topic. I had already changed from 1870s US reconstruction policies to WWI US neutrality, and then from that to this. I have a penchant for Canadian history, which we study as much as US history in our Americas HL topic, so here it is: How was Prime Minister Borden’s leadership responsible for deepening the rift between French-Canadian and Anglo-Canadian national identity from 191…

Hi, I'm currently in the middle of writing my Historical Investigation and I am having some trouble. At first I had trouble choosing a question and ultimately choose "how did the camps of interned Japanese to that of interned Jews during World War Ⅱ?". I was having trouble on how to structure my essay so I talked with my teacher and we decided upon doing the conditions in which the internees were kept in and the following paragraph would be about the treatment towards these groups which includes physical abuse and death tolls. In each paragraph I would be comparing how in some ways they were similar, but then comparing how they were completely different. I'm still u…

I'm in the process of writing both my extended essay in History and my History IA. I know that an even younger than 10 years in the past can not be investigated. The question is: Can I use sources published after 2006 (10 years ago) in my investigation or do the sources also have to be older than 10 years?

Just a quick question as I am about to embark on my historical investigation...(25% of the course mark ahhhhh ) So I am doing one on Park Chung Hee (Former South Korean President) Doesn't matter if you guys are familiar with the subject, I just want someone to verify that my question is appropriate and narrow enough. Here it is: To what extent did Park Chung Hee's despotic rulership bring about drastic growth on the South Korean economy between 1961-1979? Constructive criticism or tips would be greatly appreciated as always on this website (Does it need some tweaking? Is it narrow? Confusing? Good question for a Historical IA?) Also, if you have …

So I have realized one of the negative aspects of my essays for History was the lack of historiography, though is it necessary to like make specific references to historians for a certain matter, for example: "Robert Service is one of the historians who believes..."? Or can I just say that IB-beloved sentence "there is much debate among historians on this..." and then pass on and say the spectrum of opinions, without making specific ref? My Hist teacher told me we could just do this, but Idk

To what extend did ideas expressed in and events occurring in the American and French Revolutions contribute to social unrest and, ultimately, revolution in Saint Domingue? To what extent do the events in Saint Domingue influence the ideas expressed by and decisions of French Revolutionaries? Please provide examples with reference to each of the major socio-racial groups (grands blancs, petits blancs, gens de coleur libre, esclaves/noirs) in Saint Domingue. I have done my research but only gathered a few results, I need help on this topic and any thoughts you might have, please. I have to write an essay on this question. Thank you!

Hi guys! We've been working on our HI in history but I've been struggling so much. I thought my question was solid but then I looked more into it and I feel like it's too narrow. The topic I was thinking was WW2 ( History is my weakest subject and I really don't know what else to go for) and for the question I had thought about why did the US' Isolationism during 1930s-1940 fail to keep them out of war? And I had my book sourses ready but then I started looking more into them and there's just a lot of information but not really centered around this idea. Then I went online and couldn't find much. Idk if I should change my question or idk

Hi people! I'm writing my first in class essay tomorrow about the 1917 Bolshevik Russian Revolution and while I am preparing, I would just like to get some insights from other students who have written IB History essays in the past (just in general, regardless of the topic). 1. What structure do you generally follow when you write? (Just wondering if there are other ways to approach this other than my own) 2. Some crucial tips when writing a history essay? Since this would be my first one, I want to make sure that I am not deviating too much from the ideal structure. Thank you very much all for your insights!

Hi, I'm about to start writing and research HI in next week. And I'm not sure what topic is going to be. I wanted to write about Korea under Japanese rule which happened between 1910 and 1945. But my history teacher told me that period of time is too long. She said I have to choose specific events that happen during that time. I kinda wanted to do about women or the agreement with Japan about sexual slavery that happened December of 2015. Can anyone help me to choose topic for my HI?

Hi all, As a student whose first language is not english, i still dont quite understand why i even chose to write my EE on history... but here we are. My topic is basically TWE did technological advances contribute to the success of the Blitzkrieg campaign in France, 1940. He thinks it lacks cohesion /focus, but i actually put at least 20 hrs of reading and research. I found a lot of essays, books, etc but a lot of those do not go in much details regarding the technol…

Hello Interwebs, Im retaking, does anybody know what they tested on last year for paper 1 of route 2 history. Usually they have the option to test three prescribed subjects:, Peacekeeping – International Relations 1918–36 • The Arab-Israeli Conflict 1945–79 • Communism in Crisis 1976–89. Any past examinee takers please respond. I think they wont repeat what they tested last year thus eliminating one less thing to study. Thanks.

My history teacher just had a meeting. Apparently, IB has changed their grading system for the History Investigation. One History Investigation will be chosen by random per school. The score of the randomly picked paper will determine the score of the whole class. In short, everyone gets the same score. It doesn't matter if you deserve a 7; if IB picked a paper scoring 1, you get 1. IB will only be reading one paper per school. My class has 26 history students. Honestly, the only solution I see is editing and checking all 26 papers myself. I'm not sure if this grading system only exists in my country. All I know is that this grading system is more than unfair for tho…

Hello everyone, I am taking IB History of the Americas and I was planning to do my IA topic on this question: "Tow what extent did the influx of Asian immigrants during the 1960s incite anti-immigrant and nativism feelings in America?" I was planning to concentrate on the immigration quotas that were lifted on the immigrants during the 1960s. Personally, I feel like I need something more to make it interesting in terms of certain events or specific things that were a result of the influence of Asian immigrants in American society. Please give me any ideas and suggestions that would revise this IA topic question. Thanks for all the feedback!
